Position Summary:

FlexGen is currently searching for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to create technical requirements and specification for various energy storage projects. This role will drive the engineering service for all energy storage system modeling, interconnection applications and project development. The right person will contribute to the software configurations needed to make FlexGen energy management system perform on site. This role will directly impact FlexGen's success by providing continuity in technical execution for many of the world’s leading-edge energy storage installations.

The integration of energy storage requires software and technological solutions that play a critical role in the adoption of renewables at scale—offsetting the intermittency and reliability challenges that renewable power generation creates for the grid. The Company’s proprietary software platform, HybridOS™ is the brains behind battery energy storage projects, unlocking the full functionality of energy storage and enabling owners to manage multiple sites from a single platform.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • 40% time to drive the battery energy storage system design, modeling, optimization, and specification with energy storage products and tools
  • 20% time to develop the techno-economic energy storage and hybrid system modeling tool that provides investment-grade analysis while simulating performance, degradation, warranty, costs, and revenue to optimize the economics of the project
  • 20% time to creating business analysis, interconnection insights, and business integration models for energy storage business in an upstream energy market
  • 10% time to create the preliminary single-line diagram and quick layout diagram for the energy storage and renewable project early phase development
  • 10% time to lead the project design engineering, interconnection study, and execution for the energy storage project development
  • Support the project design engineering, integration, execution, and commissioning

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field
  • 3 years’ experience in the renewable and energy storage industry
  • Experience working on the utility interconnection study, and energy storage project design
  • Understand the battery storage technologies, such as battery safety, battery health and battery modeling
  • Understand the battery storage business applications, optimization strategy to increase project financials
  • Familiar with power converter operations, functionals and sizing based on power flow analysis
  • Understanding of latest battery storage requirements, such as UL9540a, UL1973 and UL1741 preferred
  • Experience with renewable software configuration and setup as well as troubleshooting preferred
